One of my absolute favorite things to do in the photography process is hold an engagement session with my couples before their wedding. It is the perfect way for us to become friends and get comfortable with each other before the big day! Of course before any wedding, I will be sure that I meet my couples (at the very least through a video call) so that we can build trust and gain clear expectations about the entirety of the photography process. However, through my experience, the best way that I have learned to truly connect with clients is to go out and DO something together. An engagement session is the perfect outlet for that. Clients get the opportunity to see who I am and understand how I direct and step back as necessary during our time together as moments and emotion dictate the session direction. Danny and Athena's engagement session was no exception!
D+A live in Seattle and know the area well, they've spent their relationship in the big city. We were tossing a few ideas for location up in the air until they decided to settle on a park that they visited often together throughout their relationship. The park was lovely, with scenic views of both Seattle's lake union and the skyline. We managed to get a variety of nature, city, and rustic shots during a lovely hour long golden hour session. The best part of it all? I got to know Danny and Athena! Hear more about their relationship, joke, laugh, chat about both the excitement and nervousness surrounding their upcoming wedding, and learn about the area and how they came to appreciate their home. Having this session meant that on their wedding day a couple of months later, meeting them again felt like a reunion rather than a job.
D+A's wedding itself was STUNNING. From the natural elegance of Lairmont Manor to the breathtaking floral's created by Tangled Roots Floral, every detail of their October day was perfect.
